Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries that still have malnutrition problem. Based on Global Nutrition Report 2014, Indonesia includes 17 countries that have nutritional problems, especially the children (under five years old). Lebak Regency is a pockets of poverty located in Banten Province also has malnutrition problems and low education level of the population. The purpose of this study was to analyze the corelation between poor families and education level to malnourished children under five. The method used are the spatial and statistical analysis(pearson product moment). The results showed: (1) the malnourished child (under five years old) are concentrated in the southern region far away from the center of district capital of Lebak Regency (2) the rural poor are concentrated in the southern village, while the urban poor are in the north, especially in the district capital; (3) The educational level of the population of most primary and junior high schools is evenly distributed in almost all districts; (4) thecorelation between the percentage of poor families and the percentage of malnourished child (under five years old)wassignificant at the significance level (α) = 0.05; (5) the relationship between educational level and the percentage of malnourished child (under five years old) is not significant at the significance level (α) = 0.05, which means that the region of malnourished child (under five years old) are not always on the region of high percentage of the population basic educational level.
