Abstract

Mount Lawu has 195 MWe of geothermal energy that can be utilized as a source for power plant. This research is conducted to find suitable location for geothermal power plant. Spatial analysis used in this research to find the result thoroughly by overlaying method between variables (assumed as same weight) based on researchs conducted by Yousefi and Ehara (2008), Noorallahi (2005), and government's regulations. GIS and remote sensing is used because it is cost-effective but still can review the overall of working area. Forest, slope, vegetation density, river, faults, roads, build area, geothermal potential area, geothermal manifestation, and well are being used as variables in this research. The objectives of this research is to knowing suitable areas for geothermal power plant based on boolean methods that will be resulted in two classifications, suitable areas and not suitable areas. The result showed suitable areas is 372 hectares and located spreading to the west and east part of Sidoramping-Lawu faults.
