Abstract
Introduction: The process of hearing habilitation in congenital deafness is not completed by simply placing hearing technology into the child’s ear. In the process of hearing habilitation in congenital deafness, periodic evaluations need to be carried out to determine whether hearing technology and the habilitative approach are capable of bringing the child to the milestones needed to build language skills. The evaluation process can be carried out objectively to determine functional hearing thresholds using hearing technology as well as subjectively to determine the progress of language development after using hearing technology. This study aims to evaluate validation and reliability from the Indonesian version of the Auditory Skills Checklist. Methods: The auditory Skill Checklist Questionnaire is translated into Indonesian through an accredited translation agency then the results are discussed with the auditory experts consisting of ENT doctors and certified AVT physiatrists. This study is conducted on a patient with hearing problems 1-year-old to 23 years old who has used hearing aids or post-cochlear implant surgery. In this study, all samples had congenital hearing loss. The questionnaire consists of 35 questions comprising 4 parts: detection 9 questions, discrimination 7 questions, identification 7 questions, and comprehension 12 questions. The interview was performed by two general practitioners. Results: The validity of the test has been analyzed Corrected item-Total correlations and all items are valid. A reliability test was carried out by Cronbach’s alpha and Cohen’s Kappa. Cronbach’s alpha results in all items are reliable. Cohen’s Kappa shows Indonesian version of ASC has high inter-rater reliability. Conclusion: The Indonesian version of ASC is valid and reliable. The Indonesian version of ASC could be used to evaluate listening processing ability in children who have conducted rehabilitation programs.
