Abstract

The nose is the most prominent structure in the center of the face and plays an important role in the aesthetics of the face. Nasal defects in the dorsum, ala nasi, nostrils, columella, or septum due to trauma, animal bites, and tumor can lead to loss of function and decrease in aesthetic value. Nasolabial and nasal septal flaps are used for the reconstruction of nasal defects after mass extirpation in the lower third of the nose, particularly in cases of ala nasi defects. Here, we report the case of a patient who underwent reconstruction with a combination of nasolabial and nasal septal flaps for an ala nasi defect due to mass extirpation for basal cell carcinoma. We also conducted an evidence-based literature search tailored to the case.
