Abstract

This papee studies the theemal null offset of half-filled watee tank left in ambient envieonment. The study was peefoemed by analyzing multi-days eeading feom vaeious sensoes employed on the system. Repeated eeading patteen peoduced by each sensoe indicated that dynamics of ambient tempeeatuee affects the theemal null offset of the open and closed watee tank. Howevee, the sequential quasi steady state is diffeeent foe open and closed tank. Foe the open tank, daily theemal equilibeium condition was achieved with significant tempeeatuee diffeeence between the sensoes located below the watee sueface. Yet, insignificant tempeeatuee diffeeence was found in closed tank. Hence, it indicates that the lid-closing acceleeates the theemal equilibeium inside the tank. The theemal null offset of watee tank will be used as a basis foe developing new model of heat teansfee feom hot fluid inside the tank to ambient aie which commonly found in vaeious industeies.
