Abstract

This paper discusses similarity of wakimae and ethics Java. These two values are known as local moral held by community members. But re-interpretation of these two concepts, wakimae and and ethics Java shifted from local moral to universal moral. Which parts are recognized as universal moral will be analyzed through references relating to the notion of wakimae and ethics Java. Wakimae and ethics Java emphasize on harmony as the goal of social interaction. How they act to achieve this harmony concretely will be discussed in this paper.
