Abstract

Nowadays, the inverter technology is widely used in household appliances. This technology may generate disturbance in the frequency range within 9-150 kHz due to its frequency switching. In the shared low voltage network, many appliances can be connected and operated simultaneously causing the interaction between appliances. The disturbance produced by appliance may influence the working performance of neighbor appliances in the shared network. In the other hand, the neighbor appliances may also affect the disturbance produced by appliance in the network. This study is focused on observing the effect of neighbor appliance to the disturbance produced by appliance in the shared low voltage network. The appliance used as the disturbance source is induction cooker while inverter based microwave, conventional microwave, personal computer, television and water cooker are used as the neighbor appliances. The result shows that the neighbor appliance may either increase or decrease the disturbance appeared in the network. The neighbor appliances affect the disturbance through their two properties, the power consumption and internal impedance.
