Abstract

Synthesis and modification of Ag-TiO2 nanotube (TiO2-NT/Ag) film as well as their application photoelectrode on electrochemical systems have been studied. The TiO2 nanotube film was synthesized by anodizing method in a glycerol solution containing fluoride and followed by thermal treatment at a temperature of 500°C. Furthermore, TiO2 nanotube (TiO2-NT) film was decorated by Ag in the silver nitrate solution to generate Ag-TiO2 nanotube film. The characterization of Ag-TiO2 nanotube film was conducted by using XRF, DR-UV Vis and potentiostat. The electrode was then applied to prevent the corrosion of stainless steel under Visible light exposure. The results showed the reduction of corrosion rate at a value up to 2 times for stainless steel coupled with the Ag-TiO2 nanotube film compared to the bare stainless steel. The Ag-TiO2 nanotube electrode exhibited its effectiveness in corrosion prevention of stainless steel 304 under visible light exposure.
