N2 - Batik is an ancient method of decorating textile from Indonesia which had been recognized by UNESCO as one of the world heritage. This research discusses the strategy development of batik industry based on three different types of batik industry alternatives which are hand-writing batik (batik 'tulis'), stamped batik (batik 'cap'), and printing batik (batik 'cetak'). Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used to make prioritization of the three batik industry types. Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) is used for strategy development. The strategy development for batik industry is based on three sequential stage: The initial stage, the core stage, and the final stage. In the initial stage, the activities are the human resource development and technology development. At the core stage, the activities are the expansion of batik marketing area, the development of information media, and setting up batik associations or batik village. In the final stage is creating online sales movement, increase the development of raw materials and batik processed, and business assistance from the government.
