Spin-11/2 and -13/2 nucleon resonances in kaon photoproduction off a proton

Abstract

We have studied the formulation of scattering amplitudes for kaon photoproduction off a proton with higher-spin nucleon resonances, i.e., with spin-11/2 and 13/2. We have constructed the projection operators to this end by means of the generalized formalism of projection operators for higher spins, which we utilize to acquire the Feynman propagators. Using the vertex factors from the consistent interaction Lagrangian proposed by Pascalutsa, we are able to calculate the scattering amplitudes. The calculated scattering amplitudes are decomposed into six Lorentz and gauge invariant amplitudes from which we can calculate the cross section and polarization observables.
