Abstract

Along with the rapid growth of mobile broadband technologies today, the number of active mobile broadband subscribers in the world is continuing to increase. This fact causes the total internet traffic generated by mobile users increases significantly requiring additional radio frequency spectrum. In this paper, a review of spectrum demand prediction for mobile broadband with their strengths and weakness is presented. We present spectrum demand of Indonesia obtained from a simulation. The results show that the baseline spectrum in Indonesia is not enough to provide targeted user experienced data rate. Additional spectrum for mobile network operator (MNO) should be assigned to deliver the required capacity for the country.
