Abstract
We briefly discuss the transfer matrix approach applied to study the space-time evolution of electron and electromagnetic wave packets through a semiconductor superlattice. We present some exact calculations for Gaussian wave packets, with centroid lying in distinct but qualitatively different energy regions. Our approach provides a clear explanations of wave packet distortion as well as of a distortionless transmission process.
