Abstract

Indonesia’s cultural heritage has two types. Inheritance in the form of objects and non-objects. Inheritance in the form of objects we can see like buildings, art objects, or the other. One inherotance that has physical characteristics but the contents into the inheritance is not an object is an old manuscript. This old manuscript is an inheritance that contains all sorts of local wisdom of the community in the past, and events in human life. Attempts to record and study the texts in the present have been done a lot despite many obstacles (Sudarmadi, 2000). One of the many places that maintain and manage the old manuscript is the University of Indonesia Central Library. The Serat Darmakanda is written in Javanese language and in Javanese character. The text of this story is inserted into a group of Islamic-themed stories. Lots of research that explores the features of old manuscipts. It can be understood, because a text is written to teach something good. In the past texts were written in certain circles. In pre-Islamic times the texts were written among the clerics by the leaders of the faith (Th.Pegaud, 1972). This condition continued until the influx of Arab or Islam. Religious leaders still write many works to be read by santri or other followers. From the contents of the text of the story, this text is an acculturation of Javanese thinking when receiving the influence of Islam.Through the analysis of the structure of the story, it is found that the text of this story themed examples of good teachings for humas (Akhsan, 1990).
