N2 - Our ongoing project regarding to drug discovery based on Indonesian medicinal plants led to the isolation of β-sitosterol from the methanol extract of the leaves of Macaranga magna Turrill. β-sitosterol, a white needle crystals (1) were isolated using serial column chromatographic separation methods. The chemical structure was determined based on spectroscopic data such as FTIR, NMR (1H-, 13C-, and DEPT 135-NMR) and LC-ESI-MS.
