Background : Neonatal transport is important in neonatal management. The best transport for neonatal is intra-uterin. While it couldn’t to be implemented, the stabilization before and during transport will determined the outcome of patient. This study aim to see the frequencies of clinical problem in neonatal who transported to Neonatal Unit in Tertiary Hospital in Indonesia and indentify the associated factors with outcome of patients. Material : A cross sectional study was performed in Neonatal Unit in National General Hospital Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo, Jakarta, Indonesia. Inclusion criteria was all admitted neonates who referred to hospital from January – June 2016 with complete medical records. The data of all admitted neonates were analyzed for gestational age (GA), birth weight (BW), clinical problem at admission, transport with or without health workers, cause of admission and outcome. Results : There are 119 babies eligible to be included into study. Mean GA was 36.77 ± 2.74 weeks and BW 2576.90 ± 642.59 g. Almost half of patients came less than 72 hr of life. The most common cause of admission respectively were surgery cases (34.4%), respiratory distress (29.3%), and early onset sepsis (EOS) (12.6%). Most patients came with unstable condition (85.7%) and 68.1% was came by themselves. There was correlation between clinical problem on admission (hypo/hyperglicemia, hypo/hyperthermia, respiratory distres, and circulatory problems) with patient outcome (p=0.003). From laboratory result, there were 35.3% patients had elevation of septic marker and 64.7% with electrolyte imbalance. There were correlations between electrolyte imbalance, hypovolaemic shock and outcome (p<0.05, with r = 0.29). At the end of treatment, 27.7% patients died and 63.3% caused by sepsis. Conclusions : Stabilization before and during transport is needed to decrease the mortality rate. The awareness of neonatal transport should be increased to improve neonatal outcome in neonatal unit.
