Abstract

Knowledge is a mixture of experiences of values, contextual information and concept that provide a framework for evaluating and incorporating new experiences and information. This study aims to determine decription of the preservation and l knowledge level of the people about the history of carvings on stone in Tasikmalaya. The method used is qualitative where data collected based on facts in the field through direct observation, interview and literature study. Stone carving is one of the historical evidence of the struggle of the Army of the Republic of Indonesia and Brimob against DaruI Islam in South Tasikmalaya. Carving was made in the 1960s by the Army and Brimob who had been in Cibeber Village several times during the Darul Islam rebellion. Preservation of knowledge has never been explicitly done. The level of community knowledge of history on stone carving is low and dominated by people over the age of 70 years. As for teenagers and children have not much to know in detail related to the history of the stone.
