Abstract

Large and ultrqfast cubic optica! noniinearities in thin films containing poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)-TiO2 nanocomposites were observed using 780-nm, 250-fs laser pulses. The recovery limes of the noniinearities were found to be ∼1,5 ps. The best figures of merit were obtained in one of the films prepared with a 60% weight percentage of titanium isopropoxide. These findings strongly suggest a potential application of PMMA-TiOi nanocomposites for all-optical switching devices.
