Performance Evaluation of Aeronautical Fixed Service Direct Speech (DS) Application Based Named Data Network (NDN)

Abstract

Named-Data Networking (NDN) is a future network architecture that uses data as an entity. In this work we evaluate the Direct Speech (DS) Aeronautical Telecommunication application transmission performance on NDN networks. Evaluation results show that DS applications through an NDN-based network are in accordance with standards set by the aviation authority. The best MOS value obtained is 3.9 using the G711u codec at 10ms delay and worst MOS value obtained is 2.6 using the G711u codec at 30ms delay.
