Abstract
Introduction: The current trend shows an increase in proportion of pregnant women undergoing cesarean section however hospital tariff for cesarean section is still determined using traditional method that is already known to be less precise and accurate. An analysis of unit cost to determine tariff will help hospital to figure the real cost of cesarean section and help establish efficiency. Objective: This systematic review aims to compare in between researches that calculated unit cost of cesarean section with the current tariff used. Methods: This article is a systematic review that reviews, analyse, and classify researches available at Proquest, Scopus, Springerlink dan Google Scholar. This systematic review uses PRISMA method and inclusion and exclusion criteria to choose which research will be included. Articles will then be analysed to compare unit cost tariff and current tariff. Results: We found fourteen research articles that calculated unit cost of cesarean section. Among them, four articles compared the unit cost tariff with hospital tariff and INACBGs tariff. Five articles mentioned factors that contribute towards the cost and two articles suggested a change in the current clinical pathway. Medicines, medical consumables and capital cost is mainly named as the cause of difference in unit cost tariff. Conclusion: Analysis of unit cost tariff of cesarean section results in differences compared to the current tariff used. Using this analysis, hospital can make better efforts to control cost.
