Abstract

The tourism industry in East Nusa Tenggara in the last few decades has begun to receive attention. Komodo Island as one of the wonders of the world also created a new image for the tourism industry of East Nusa Tenggara, especially the island of Flores. In fact, currently several other tourist destinations began to emerge, one of which is Kampung Adat Bena that offers culture, customs, rituals, as well as relics of megalithic as its appeal. However, the phenomenon also raises concerns, especially related to traditional life that is threatened by modernization. Especially with the advancement of technology, where life is more efficient so that the traditional life began to leave. Therefore the role of the community is needed for the sustainability and sustainability of Kampung Adat Bena in the future. This study focuses on what efforts should be done to support the sustainability of Kampung Adat Bena. To examine the case, the researcher did research by using descriptive qualitative methodology and data collection was done by using observation, interview, documentation, and merging of three techniques or called triangulation by referring to research instrument. The variables highlighted in this research are Community Involvement, Community Empowerment and Conservation Efforts. This research is expected to be an input for the community to maintain the existing rituals, the style of traditional house buildings and traditional way of life that is still run to date in order to maintain the status of the kampung as a traditional village.
