Abstract

This study evaluated the effect of governance characteristics and e-government on corruption in Indonesia. The study used 172 samples of local government data on three years, i.e: 2011, 2012 and 2013. The governance characteristics measured by accountability, fairness, decentralization, transparency, professionalism and responsiveness. The e-Government variables were measured by the Rating of Index e-Government (PeGI). The processing data using logistic methode with Stata12. Results showed that accountability, professionalism, governance index and e-government reduced the corruption probability, while the decentralization increased it. On the other hand, the fairness, transparency and responsiveness have not been able to play a role in decreasing the level of corruption. In addition, the study provides additional results that the implementation of comprehensive governance can reduce the level of corruption. It was indicated that monitoring system should be improved by monitoring follow up the auditor recommendation, increase the apparatus professionalism and increase implementation of e-government. As well as the importance of implementing comprehensive governance in efforts to reduce the level of corruption.
