Javanese is one of the significant subject that is learned in every junior highschool. However, the students tend to disparage this subject that bring them not tounderstand how the language works. Javanese is considered as traditional and oldfashioned one that make students not interested and feel lazy to study it.This research has been done to found out the influence of persuasivecommunication by teacher and the students motivation to study Javanese toward theirachievement at the subject. Theory that used in this research is about persuasivecommunication by Effendy (1992: 12). The research itself is explanatory one withquantitative approach. The population taken in this research are students from 9th and10th grade of junior high school (SMP) in Semarang Tengah. The sample is taken bystratified proporsional random sampling while the sample itself is 96 persons.Meanwhile, the data is analyzed by regression test of quantitative analysis that usedcalculation from SPSS program (Statistical Product and Service Solution).The result indicates that persuasive communication by teacher (X1) hasinfluenced towards students achievement at Javanese (Y). It can be evidenced bycalculation with statistical test that obtained error probability (sig) 0,000 (<0,05) andR square value is 0.191. It means that persuasive communication by teacher hasinfluenced students achievement 19,1%. Meanwhile, students motivation to study(X2) has also influenced their achievement at Javanese (Y). It can be evidenced byhypothesis test that obtained error probability (sig) 0,000 (<0,05) and R square valueis 14,1%. Regression test indicated that 19,1% and 14,1 % of the study achievementfactors can be explained by persuasive communication by teacher and studentsmotivation to study, while the others 66,8% by other factors that was not be studiedin the research, like intelligence, maturity, and family factor.
