N2 - Decision Support System (DSS) is a support tool in helping users to provide suggestions of decisions when the information is disorganized and has a complex problem. Eventually, the dynamics of data on certain domains is unclear, semantic interoperability and heterogeneous data sources. To address solve the problem, the ontology can be applied to perform knowledge representation. The aim of this paper is to discuss the role of ontology in developing DSS as a supporter of multi-criteria decision-making. This study used Kitchenham's methodology to assist in literature review. There are five journals electronic databases selected as references, such as, Science Direct, IEEE, Google Scholar, JSTOR, and Springer Link This study obtained 21 final articles that were synthesized to answer research questions. The ontology-based DSS delivers a deeper analysis of the decision situation and suggests a new methodology which can affords accurate results of calculation. Though most of the studies present that the ontology is not integrated with DSS techniques.
