Abstract
Prediabetes is a global public health issue. Prevalence of prediabetes is increasing worldwide. Generally, it is high among adults and as a high risk state for DM. Obesity has essential role in pathophysiology of prediabetes. his study aimed to explore whether both of general obesity and abdominal obesity related to prediabetes on age group 20-65 years in Bogor tengah sub-district by family history of DM, sex, age, smoking, hypertension, physical activity and stress. his study used the cross sectional design study with Cox Regression to multivariable analysis. Data for this analysis were collected during the baseline stage of cohort study of risk factors of non-communicable disease in 2011-2012. here were 3244 respondents were taken by random sample technique.. he result indicated that obesity to prediabetes adjusted by age; general obesity alone PR 1,56 (95% CI: 1,15-2,11), abdominal obesity alone PR 1,43 (95% CI; 1,09-1,85), general obesity and abdominal obesity jointly PR 1,93 (95% CI; 1,62-2,28). herefore, general obesity and abdominal obesity jointly contributed most to the increase prevalence of prediabetes. Awareness raising and screening of prediabetes of those at high risk group by assessing obesity by BMI and waist circumference joinlty are essential to be considered as part of eforts for halting the epidemic of prediabetes in community.ABSTRAKABSTRACT
