Abstract

In the maritime world now, the shipbuilding industry has been very competitive. to develop or even survive in global market competition, shipbuilders need to find methods to efficiently produce ships in order to renew energy in the shipbuilding business and stabilize shipbuilding costs. Therefore, the development of new methods like ship building modules, optimization design, and modularization concepts is necessary. this paper presents a new approach to the design of piping systems on engine room in ships based on the concept of Rule Based algorithms. The characteristics of the proposed method are as follows. First, Attention is given to piping systems from several different piping systems. similarity of modules and settings considered and costs and size of piping systems and similarities. Second, the design process of the piping system will be divided into two stages: module definition and design development. Third, to define effective modules that can be used in general on different ships, the design structure matrix is adopted. And fourth, In the design of the development, the optimization system was developed using a Rule Based algorithm to obtain the same pattern in the development of modules on several piping systems on ships with special consideration of costs and similarities. This study discusses the details of the method outlined above. In addition, the ship piping system is designed using the proposed method and its effectiveness is evaluated to achieve efficiency.
