Abstract

Boron-doped diamond (BDD) was modified with neighbor-paired metals; NiCu and NiMn for application in urea oxidation. The modification was conducted by a series processes, including wet chemical seeding, electrochemical overgrowth of the seeds, annealing, as well as refresh and activation techniques. Characterization was performed by using SEM and XPS showed that the method successfully deposit NiCu and NiMn on the BDD surface. However, pairing nickel with copper gave more synergic effect in lowering overpotential Ni to be Ni(OH)2 as active electrocatalyst than pairing nickel with manganese.
