Microstrip octagonal patch wideband antenna for mobile communication application

Wideband antenna can be used in mobile communication application. A microstrip octagonal patch antenna is proposed in this paper. Frequency range from 800 MHz to 3000 MHz considered as working frequency of wideband antenna with reflection coefficient is less than or equal to -10 dB. The antenna is simulated and printed on Epoxy FR-4 with dielectric constant of 4.6 and dielectric loss tangent of 0.025 as the substrate. From the simulation result, it yields frequency range 759-4217.2 MHz with gain of 1.69 dB at 900 MHz and 3.94 dB at 2400 MHz. Hence, proposed antenna is suitable for mobile communication as wideband antenna.
