Abstract
Background & Aim
Junctional epidermolysis bullosa (JEB) is one of inherited blistering skin diseases which characterized by skin and mucous membranes fragility. The primary approach to patient management involves supportive wound care, along with early identification and treatment of complications. The wound-healing process in EB-affected individuals can be intricate and complex. Secretome, or conditioned medium from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), exhibits diverse biological activities, particularly beneficial for skin applications in various therapies including wound healing. The aim of this research is to explore wound healing process using secretome in JEB

Secretome, or conditioned medium from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), exhibits diverse biological activities, particularly beneficial for skin applications in various therapies including wound healing. The aim of this research is to explore wound healing process using secretome in JEB. Evaluation of lesions was carried out every visit. Following the 24th application of secretome, there was a reduction in the large wound surface area. Some small wounds showed improvement. Some lesions showed hypergranulation in the edge of wound after application of secretome and improved with mometasone furoate ointment 0,1% application since 18th visit. Secretome contains cytokines, growth factors, and extracellular vesicles which can facilitate the absorption of molecules into the skin, in order to support the wound healing and skin regeneration process. This case has shown foundation for further research on the usage of secretome as an adjunctive therapy in the management of JEB wound healing.
