Abstract
This study evaluated the populati on practi ces related to the preventi on of dengue in parti cular to the presence of mosquito larvae in the home. Methods:A cross-secti onal study was conducted involving 180 respondents who had containers at home. Knowledge and behavior data were obtained from interviews with questi onnaires. The larva presence data was performed by larvae observati on with single larvae technique and observati on of container conditi on. Results: Larvae was found in 37 percent of house. The behavior of the inhabitants sti ll does not support the preventi on of mosquito larvae at home, which does not cover containers (40%), does not drain the containers (25%), does not keep larvae (97%), and does not bury used goods (90%). The presence of larvae is related to the act of cleaning and closing the container. Conclusion: Cleaning and closing water container are the most infl uenti al factors of the presence of larvae. People are advised to clean the container at least once a week and close the container. Primary health care and local government are expected to improve coordinati on with the community as a preliminary eff ort in vector and preventi on of dengue fever.
