Abstract

Objective: This study aims to investigate the implementation of medical tourism in hospitals by the regulation of the Ministry of Health. Method: A Literature review was conducted using the keyword “medical tourism in Indonesia”. The SWOT analysis is used for identifying the critical success factors of the medical tourism implementation. Then the qualitative approach is carried out by in-depth interviews with stakeholders from various hospitals in Bali and NTB. Results: The readiness of public and private hospitals in terms of facilities and human resources is sufficient to provide medical tourism implementation. However, in terms of promotion, cross-sectorial coordination, and the regulations from the Ministry of Health are still not optimal. Conclusion: The supports from the local government is expected to optimize the potential of Indonesian medical tourism services, especially in Bali and NTB.
