Abstract
The internet has become one of the most important channels in politics. In 2004 in the United States of America, almost 100 million of its people used the internet to gather informations about politics, 50 million people discussed about the electoral via emails, 13 million people made political contribution online, and 52 percent of voters indicated that the informations that they had obtained from the internet helped them in determining their choice. In Indonesia, 2017 became one of those years in which celebration of democracy was held. 101 regions took part in simultaneous gubernatorial elections held on that year. As the nation's capital, DKI Jakarta was one of those regions that held the gubernatorial election. The elected governor, Anies Baswedan, claimed that campaigning through social media had given a significant effect on his victory. A method of case study was used to review the phenomena. Archival records and documentations became sources of research data to discover whether the internet had any significant effect on victory of a particular campaign. Result of the research has shown that Anies Baswedan's social media account used for campaigning had already met the requirements as a proper channel for campaigning. It's safe to say that the digital campaign carried out by Anies Baswedan was done well and it was a systematic campaign.
