Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease which the cases continue to increase because of it co-infection with another disease, for instance, is with diabetes. To understand the effect of diabetes on the spread of TB, a mathematical model to describe the correlation between TB and diabetes will be analyzed in this article. The idea is by dividing the population between those who have diabetes and who does not have diabetes. From this model, we obtained the Basic Reproduction Number that becomes an indicator where TB can be endemic or not in a population. Through an analysis of the sensitivity of the basic reproduction number and numerical simulations, we conclude that diabetes has a significant effect on the spread of TB.
