MASALAH KESEHATAN GIGI DAN MULUT LANSIA DI DESA LENGKONG GUDANG DAN SERPONG SERTA SARAN PENANGGULANGANNYA MELALUI PERAN KADER KESEHATAN DESA

Integrated Health Center for elderly has been established in Serpong a suburban area of Jakarta since 1998, however, to date dental health program who has not been included in the Integrated Health Center for elderly activities. Village health volunteers who are responsible in Integrated Health Center for elderly only give general health care service. The condition of dental health of the elderly in Serpong region was studies. The objective of this study was to make a fit program for the elderly in the area of Serpong to solve their dental health problem based on the condition of dental health of the elderly. Samples were drawn from elderly who are member of Integrated Health Center in the area of Lengkong Gudang and Serpong with ages over 55 year. DMF-T and CPITN indices were applied to assess the mobility of the teeth. Besides, ginigval recession, caries and periodontal disease prevalence were also measured. Questioner was applied to investigate their knowledge, attitude and practice in the dental health care. Caries prevalence was 100% with mean DMF-T index was 18.46. Perventage of samples with degree of tooth mobility score 2 or mote was 14.08. Prevalence of periodontal disease was 97.18% with mean CPITN index was 2. Percentage of samples with gingival recession more than 3 mm was 91.59%. Tooth loss was 16.24 teeth per person. Their knowledge, attitude and practice towards dental health care were low. Therefore, specific dental health programs for the elderly conducted by the village health volunteers is required. The priority of the program will be to motivate the elderly in maintaining optimum oral health care.
