Abstract

Magnetite - activated chicken eggshell (Fe3O4-ACE) composite has been prepared via co-precipitation method and characterized with FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) and EDS (Electron Dispersive Spectroscopy) instruments. In application, Fe3O4-ACE is successful to catalyze the cross-Aldol condensation reaction between acetophenone and cinnamaldehyde. Different reaction conditions such as solvent, weight of catalyst and reaction time were used to find the best yield of product.
