Abstract

An environment-friendly protocol for the synthesis of bis(phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-ol) derivatives assisted by a magnetically recoverable catalyst, Fe3O4@SiO2@Sm, has been developed. The catalyst efficiently supports a one-pot, three-component reaction between aromatic aldehydes, phenylhydrazine and ethyl acetoacetate to give corresponding products in medium to good yields. The magnetic catalyst can be recovered and reused without a significant loss in the catalytic performance.
