Abstract

The magnetic properties of Nd60Fe30Al10 ribbons were studied in the as-cast state as well as after annealing. The anomaly observed in the temperature dependence of the ac-susceptibility depends on frequency and the superposed dc-field and disappears when the wheel-side surface of the ribbon up to a thickness of 9μm is removed. On the contrary, the 57Fe Mössbauer spectra show always two peaks in the hyperfine field distribution which are correlated to high and low magnetic moments, independent of the heat- and surface treatments. The intrinsic coercivity shows a strong time dependence for the whole temperatures range.
