LEAN WAREHOUSING IMPLEMENTATION FOR PROCESS IMPROVEMENT ON 3PL WAREHOUSE

Abstract

As continuous improvement process, a chemical company try to achieve warehouse service level target by managing warehouse activities to improve added value and decrease waste. This research purpose is to design and implement warehouse activites improvement process through lean warehousing implementation. Value Stream Mapping, Process Activity Mapping, Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis tools are used to solve the waste problems. The result shows that lead time reduction in receiving activities is 33% from 78.36 minutes to 52.2 minutes. While lead time reduction in material release is 15% from 86.52 minutes to 73.27 minutes. The lead time reductios have impact to improvement on warehouse service level as targeted by the company.
