Poverty is a global problem faced by countries in the world, including Indonesia. Various efforts were made to overcome this problem of poverty. One of the recommended efforts in various literatures is through microfinance. Microfinance has been recognized by many as a reliable strategy to alleviate poverty. Beginning with grameen bank program by Prof. Yunus in Bangladesh, followed by similar programs in other countries, the program has succeeded in increasing the income of the poor. The results of research in several countries show that microfinance has been successful in increasing the income of the poor. Although there are studies that show failure, research that shows the success of microfinance in poverty alleviation is still more than the research that shows failure. This proves that microfinance is indeed a reliable poverty reduction effort.
