Abstract

The capability of sparse element placement to reduce the number of elements of array antennas has opened up possibilities for improving the utilization of an antenna aperture. In this paper, improvement in utilization was accomplished by the placement of elements that follows Cyclic Difference Set (CDS) in interleaving manner. The resulting side lobe was then improved by adding more elements placed symmetrical with respect to the origin. Simulation results of two complementary arrays were presented where the results showed side lobe level suppression and narrower beamwidth.
