Implementation of biological diversity information system for sustaina environment in campus

Abstract

This paper presents the development of information services for preserving the vegetation information in a campus area. Conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity is one of the major humanitarian technology concerns. This paper presents the development of Biological Diversity Information system at the University of Indonesia's campus, particularly to record all information on plants around the campus. The system is implemented using the scripting language PHP version 5.2.9 + PEAR and MySQL-database using phpMyAdmin version 3.1.3.1. The system has been tested by the users, by recording the collections of the plant based on the coordinates of an area in the campus area. The result of the testing shows that the system has satisfied the requirement and objective, in which the system can record and visualize the collection, family, genus, plant's name, the detailed record of the collections, the maps of the exact area.
