Abstract

Introduction: Good nutritional status can help the baby's growth and development, but if the baby's nutritional status is bad it can make t he baby susceptible to disease, therefore, to achieve adequate nutrition is needed for babies. Breast milk is the main thing for babies until they are 6 months old. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding, duration of breastfeeding, and frequency of breastfeeding on the nutritional status of infants aged 0-6 months Methods: The study used a cross-sectional design. The sample in this study was breastfeeding mothers who had babies aged 0-6 months who were taken using the accidental technique following the integrated health center schedule until 72 babies were collected in t he working area of the Medan Tuntungan Health Center, Medan City. Data was collected through interviews with questionnaires and measuring weight and weight using baby scales and measuring baby's body length. The analysis uses the Chi-Square test. Results: It was found that mothers who exclusively breastfed their babies were 26.4% and those not exclusively breastfed 73.6%. The frequency of breastfeeding mothers who are more than 8 times is 98.6%, the duration of breastfeeding for most of the mothers has an average duration of 10-30 by 55.6%. Bivariate results showed no significant relationship with p value > 0.05, namely between exclusive breastfeeding and nutritional status based on BB/U, PB/U, and BB/PB., duration of breastfeeding and nutritional status based on BB/U, PB/U. and BB/PB, and frequency with nutritional status based on BB/U and PB/U. However, there was a significant relationship with p value <0.0 5, namely between breastfeeding frequency and nutritional status based on BB/PB. Conclusions: there is no statistically significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding, duration of breastfeeding, and frequency of breastfeeding on the nutritional status of infants. However, based on this study, there was a statistically significant relat ionship between the frequency of breastfeeding and the infant's nutritional status based on BB/PB.
