Abstract

Based on a population survey conducted in 2015, the maternal mortality rate in Indonesia was 305 per 100,000 live births. Hence, holistic management is needed to reduce maternal and infant mortality to achieve the target set as part of Sustainable Development Goals. Aside from comprehensive and accurate management, clinicians should propose a management strategy that involves an interprofessional approach to manage the patients optimally. This study aims to discuss holistic management in obstetric patients who require interprofessional management based on their biopsychosocial aspects. This case series reported 18 patients with an obstetric issue who were admitted to Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital in 2018-2019. The inclusion criterion is obstetric cases that emphasize biopsychosocial management. In 2018- 2019, we encountered 7 cases of adolescent pregnancy, 2 cases of preeclampsia, 3 cases of preterm labor, 2 cases of abortion on unwanted pregnancy, 1 case of unwanted pregnancy with carcinoma on chemoradiation, 1 case of wanting pregnancy during an end-stage disease, 1 case of pregnancy on neglected people, and 1 case of unwanted pregnancy because of economic problem. Holistic and comprehensive management are needed for obstetric patients to reduce maternal and infant mortality. Holistic management included biopsychosocial aspect.
