Abstract

MgB2 wire has been prepared by powder in tube method using magnesium and boron powder as raw materials. The powders were mixed and ground using an agate mortar for a half hour. Stainless steel SS316 tube (OD 8 mm/ID 5 mm) was filled with mixed powders, then rolled to 4 mm rectangular shape and sintered at 800 °C for 2 hours. Phases of material, microstructure, and resistivity of the specimen were identified and observed. The resistivity of the specimen was measured using the cryogenic magnet system with four point probe method. The transition temperature of the specimen was found 41.8 K (ΔT = 1.3 K).
