Abstract

This research paper is going to discuss female artist with heterosexual orientation in describing homosexual relationship in popular media. Internet access makes possible for female, who at first could only consume popular media with boys’ lovecontent passively, to be able to reproduce similar comics. The research question is how the representation of homosexual couple in popular media? The main theory used for this research is about representation and one of the research methods is using Roland Barthes semiotics. The scene examined in this paper is one of the doujinshi or Card Vanguard fan work. Research shows hierarchical and heteronormative values brought by female artist in the making of boys’ love theme. As seen from the picture and order of language used by the artist.
