N2 - Depok, being a fast-growing city at the south of the capital city Jakarta, covering area of 200 km2 with population of 2 million people and annual population growth of 3.21% (data from 2021 Statistic Bureau of Depok) has always been positioned under the shadow of the capital city. In its urbanization trajectory, ever since the Dutch colonial era, Depok has never been able to separate itself from Jakarta, both in terms of regional development policies and in spatial planning, including housing policies. This condition became increasingly visible after Indonesian independence in 1945. In addition, from its geographical location, the city of Depok seems to be sandwiched between Jakarta and Bogor, a city historically much better known since the Dutch colonial era. Jakarta became the center, and Depok became one of the satellite cities, which function to support the rapid growth that overflowed from Jakarta.
