Abstract
Manuscripts are one of the ancestors in the form of writing, in addition to the inscription. In the manuscripts we can listen to the ideas, thoughts, experiences, and expectations that our ancestors thought, felt, and dreamed of. That is why in the manuscripts we can read texts related to various aspects of life, such as: religion, philosophy, language, medicine, commerce, economics, and literature. By reading the texts contained in the manuscript we can know and understand many things, including knowing the literary texts ever written by our ancestors. Unfortunately, the current state of manuscripts Nusantara many who are in the state of 'emergency'. Based on field research conducted since the early 2000s, many Nusantara manuscripts are damaged for various reasons, both because of natural and human factors. In addition to the damage, many manuscripts of the archipelago that has changed hands to some outside countries for sale. Therefore, there should be an effort to save the manuscripts of Nusantara so that the literary texts in it are not lost as well. In this paper will be discussed various causes of the 'emergency' conditions of the archipelago, rescue efforts ever and are being done, and what issues are the constraints of the rescue effort. To explain this problem, used qualitative research methods with descriptive analysis. Because the discussion is more focused on the physical aspects of the manuscript, the theory used is the theory of codicology. From this description it is hoped that it can be illustrated how the real condition of 'emergency' of literary texts contained in Nusantara manuscript and what efforts have been and is being done to overcome this problem.
