Abstract

Abstract- The phenomenon of the increasing rate of constructionfailures in Indonesia on projects carried out by highly qualifiedcontractors is very detrimental in terms of physical, material, andthe level of confidence in the quality of the work. Based onprevious research, the dominant factor affecting constructionfailure is the application of quality culture within theorganization. This study aims to determine a strategy based on agap analysis of the existing conditions of quality culture by usingthe Quality Maturity Model approach to reduce the failure rate ofconstruction in Indonesia. This study uses a literature study andsurvey method conducted by distributing questionnaires torespondents in major contractors in Indonesia. The results of thisstudy indicate that contractors in Indonesia have reached amaturity level of a “managed” quality culture which can beimproved by taking into account the indicators that have beenprioritized based on the quality culture maturity gap analysis inorder to reduce the failure rate of construction. Further researchon the strategy for increasing the maturity level of quality cultureis proposed.
