Abstract
Background: Adolescence is a transitional stage from infancy to adulthood; according to existing research and beliefs, teenagers face emotional and behavioral challenges that impact their capacity to learn. Teenagers commonly confront variables such as hyperactivity, emotions, behavior, and peers, including caring attitudes, helping, and pro-social actions, when engaging in learning activities. Objective: To detect behavioral and emotional difficulties in children and adolescents as an overview of their degree of preparedness to learn. Method: This study uses quantitative descriptive analysis of cross-sectional design. Using the approach of complete data sampling from secondary data screening findings of the Directorate of Mental Health, Ministry of Health, of the Republic of Indonesia. Screening using the Strength and Difficulties Quitionnaire (SDQ) was conducted 33,799 adolescent male and female subjects, aged 11-18 years, from January to September 2023 in Bekasi City, Indonesia. Results: The most respondents were women 17,980 (53.2%), the highest level of junior high school education 17,944 (53.1%), the most age 16 years 7,746 (22.9%). Jatiluhur Health Center has the most 3,204 (9.5%). Women tend to have more emotional and behavioral difficulties than men, while men tend to have more Pro-Social power than women. The higher the level of education, the higher the difficulty value, but also followed by the increasing pro-social value. Conclusion: For all age ranges most have good prosocial powers, but also most have emotional and behavioral difficulties that need attention and help with education and intervention from parents and teachers.
