Abstract
A mother with HIV/AIDS had a dilemma in preparing her pregnancy, her previous experience against the transmission of the virus to children. She can undergo her function as a woman that can be pregnant although she had HIV positive through a program to prevent transmission of the virus. This study was aims to explore a mothers with HIV positive who undergone her pregnancy. Data analysis using Stevick-Colaizzi to a group of seven participant from NGO in HIV-AIDS community based in Jakarta. Collecting of data were held for a year from may 2015 – 2016. Results of the study identified three themes as an essence of mother with HIV positive who undergone pregnancy, namely: mothers too late realized health status of her self and her child; mother who cares her pregnancy through a program Prevention mother to child transmission (PMTCT); mother decided to delivery their baby through cesarian although there is another option through normal labor. This study recommended for maternity nursing too optimalized their role as a counselor so they can contribute in preparing and caring antenatal care for mother with HIV/AIDS.
