Abstract

Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) is a scheme to coordinate the used of wireless channel among stations in Wireless Local Area Network based on IEEE 802.11 standard. In the newest IEEE 802.11n standard amendment, the new Physical (PHY) layer extension, named as High Throughput PHY, is introduced. Several researchers have investigated the performance of DCF scheme. However generally they used the assumption wireless channel in ideal condition. They also did not use the HT-PHY layer in their analysis. In this paper, we propose an analytical model for DCF scheme. Our model considers the impact of anomalous slot phenomenon in DCF scheme. We also calculate the impact of bit error in HT-PHY to the frame error probability. Simulation results show our DCF model can be used to predict frame error probability based on MSDU size, number of competing station and spatial streams number at HT-PHY layer.
